On Friday, Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) urged Florida residents and visitors to take advantage of the Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, which runs May 31-June 6, in preparation for the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

During the seven-day sales tax holiday, critical supplies for hurricane preparedness are tax-free, including water, medicine, flashlights, batteries and generators. All Floridians are encouraged to have at least seven days of supplies to be prepared for the impact of any hurricane.

While on a business development mission to Israel before the start of Hurricane season, Governor DeSantis and FDEM Director Jared Moskowitz met with Israeli emergency management officials to discuss best practices and approaches to emergency services.
